In 1999, Going Natural published an article reviewing some little known research about the benefits of sun exposure. The article suggested that the advice and supporting research that told us to hide from the sun was very one-sided. It concluded that the sun had many health-giving benefits and that the advice being given a decade ago was probably an overreaction. In the ensuing years, we have been deluged by research studies on the benefits of vitamin D, also known as the sunshine vitamin. The evidence that staying out of the sun was bad advice is now overwhelming. In an April 28, 2007 article in theRead More →

STATE OF UNDRESS Why nude is the new black Perhaps we’re finally learning to love our own imperfect, aging flesh in all its glorious reality DAVID GRAHAM FASHION EDITOR Toronto Star, Saturday, May 31, 2008 Living Section Could a culture obsessed with Abercrombie gods and Victoria’s Secret bombshells learn to love their own merely mortal physiques? If black represents a colour that’s famous for helping men and women cover their real and imagined figure flaws, it can be assumed our current willingness to embrace all manner of nudity may be a symbol that we are becoming more at ease with our naked selves – wartsRead More →

The following article was printed in the Spring 2008 issue of Going Natural magazine: Is Naturism more than recreation? In recent years, naturism has been widely described as nude recreation. The Naturist Society’s motto is “Body acceptance is the idea, nude recreation is the way.” The R in AANR stands for recreation. The big pan-American event of the year is Nude Recreation Week in July. Even the International Naturist Federation tells first-time visitors that “nude recreation is a great way to unwind and get back to basics.” Of the associations well-known in Canada, only the FCN and FQN don’t relegate naturism to mere recreation. Firewood often contains insects and plant diseases. People who bring firewood from home may accidentally spread those diseases that threaten the health of our forest. The Asian Longhorned Beetle and Emerald Ash Borer are of particular concern. They are both recent arrivals to Canada and without natural controls here. To prevent infestation and on the advice of the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) we have implemented a ban on firewood from outside the park. No firewood of any kind may be brought onto the Bare Oaks property. No standing tree, whether alive or dead, can be cut without permission. Firewood that has been cut on ourRead More →

The picture above is Steve who was the 2nd person in the pool. Nobody had a camera handy when Dean went in the pool. He was so eager to get into that clean but frigid water that the camera wasn’t ready.Read More →

Photo by tanakawho The summer water system is now working so all trailers now have access to running water. The toilets and showers in Beckett Circle are not yet functional. As soon as they are cleaned and tested, they will also be opened. Although our water is filtered and chlorinated, we do not meet the Ontario Ministry of the Environment’s standards for drinking water. The York Region Health Inspector tested our water in March 2007 and told us that we met regulation 252 because he believed that we were a trailer park or campground with less than five service connections. However, because we are a campgroundRead More →
