Hot Tub pulled out of the ground in a frame

Last year we hired a pool company to do a major renovation of all the hot tub plumbing. The current one was installed in 2009 and in recent years we’ve had various pipes and fittings crack or break. Part of the problem is that Ontario regulations require us to maintain the free chlorine residual at a level that exceeds what is imposed by most other jurisdictions around the world. That chemistry eats away at the pipes over time. So we thought we would get ahead of it all by replacing all of the hoses and fittings.

Unfortunately, that work was obviously not done properly since a line has broken which requires us to lift the hot tub again. It will go faster this time because we still have all of the material needed to lift it. We will also use a different pool company to repair the line and check all of the work that was previously done. But there’s no avoiding the fact that it will take several weeks.

We apologize for any disappointment this might cause. The good news is this is happening in the winter when very few people visit. Yet it is still extremely disheartening for the members of the Bare Oaks team that keep working on it. But we remain committed to keeping the hot tub operating despite the disproportionate cost of maintaining this amenity and the amount of labour required to keep it operating within the regulatory framework enforced by the province and regional health department.
