It’s really hot out there but nothing beats taking it all off and going for a swim! Ah the feeling of the hot sun and cool water on bare, unencumbered skin… there nothing like it! The salt water system was definitely worth it. The water feel so smooth and silky. I’m amazed that I am able to comfortably open my eyes in the water. There are two articles about naturism in today’s Toronto Star. The main article, ‘Interest sags in nude retreats’ is about clubs in Toronto being for sale or sold. It evolved from an Associated Press press story about a week ago on the aging of the naturist population. Those who followed that story know that I disagree with the inference that naturism only appeals to old people. With the arrival of the new Bare Oaks Family Naturist Park brochures, the name change is now complete. We are officially open and promoting ourselves under the new name. We have just posted, in the amenities section, the new illustrated map of Bare Oaks. It will help visitors visualize the many features of the property. It was drawn by a very talented artist named Martin Lane. One of the advantages of an illustration is that as facilities are added, the map can easily be updated. In reviewing our prices for overnight camping, it was clear that we were discouraging overnight visitors with our prices. As such, the overnight camping prices have been severely reduced. But keep in mind that if some prices seem ridiculously low (e.g. $5/night) it’s because they don’t include the ground fees. The seasonal water system is now working so all trailers now have access to running water. We need to remind you that although the water is filtered and chlorinated, we do not meet the Ontario Ministry of the Environment’s standards for drinking water. The York Region Health Inspector tested our water in March and told us that we met regulation 252 because he believed that we were a trailer park or campground with less than five service connections. As a result of a question/criticism on an internet discussion forum about the Bare Oaks single policy, I posted the following message. I thought that others would also be interested in reading it. Bare Oaks Family Naturist Park does not have any rules against single men. There are many single male members and a few single females. However, we do feel the need to maintain a gender balance.
