Ontario has reverted to a modified stage 2 of reopening. That means at Bare Oaks that the hot tub and sauna are now closed. Gatherings are limited to 5 people indoors and 10 outdoors. The Bare Bistro is only open for take-out. Full details are available here: https://www.bareoaks.ca/covid-19/ The government announcement calls this latest measure “temporary” and “time-limited” without specifying any time limit. But hopefully in a few weeks things will have settled down and restrictions will be loosened. Read More →

There appears to be some confusion about our previous announcement regarding the new Ontario government regulation that takes effect on Wednesday, September 22nd. The proof of vaccination or medical exemption certificate requirement only applies to the indoor amenities of the clubhouse/main building. Since our initial announcement, the government has issued more details about where and how restrictions for unvaccinated people must be applied. The following activities and areas are NOT restricted: Access to the office and store Toilet near the office Toilets by the beach and in the camping area Eating at the Bare Bistro patio Camping Cabin rentals Pool Beach All other outdoor areasRead More →

Effective September 22 Ontario regulations will require that people show proof of vaccination or a medical exemption certificate before using the indoor facilities of the main building/clubhouse and restaurant. For details on this regulation, please see: https://news.ontario.ca/en/release/1000779/ontario-to-require-proof-of-vaccination-in-select-settings Members who do not provide proof of vaccination or a medical exemption certificate will have clubhouse access removed from their keyband and/or keyfob until this government requirement is revoked. We understand that not everyone is in agreement with this new regulation. Please do not take out your frustration on our staff as they are simply implementing a legal requirement. Failure to follow this law could result in theRead More →

We now have a page listing what is currently open at Bare Oaks. We will keep updating it as government regulations and our own processes change. https://www.bareoaks.ca/covid-19/Read More →

The provincial government announced today new regulations that allow Bare Oaks members with a trailer to access it starting on Saturday May 16th. The announcement authorizes “access for trailers and recreational vehicles whose owners have a full season contract.” At this time, we still cannot accept any leisure visits for motel rooms, cabins, or short-term camping. We expect this to change in the very near future. If you make a reservation and we have to cancel it because of government restrictions, we will give you a full refund. If you cancel the reservation then our normal cancellation policy still applies. On Tuesday May 19th the province willRead More →

On March 23rd the Ontario Government ordered all non-essential businesses to close for 14 days. That order was extended into May and could be extended again. The good news is that we have “flattened the curve” and things seem to be under control. The government has announced that they have a 3 stage plan to allow businesses to reopen. That is not to be confused with their 3 phase plan; the 3 stages are part of phase 2. Confused yet? Here it is if you want to read it all: https://files.ontario.ca/mof-framework-for-reopening-our-province-en-2020-04-27.pdf But all you need to know right now is that: There are NO dates ThereRead More →

The Government of Ontario has ordered all non essential businesses to close. So effective immediately, Bare Oaks is closed to visitors. The restaurant is already closed. The office and store will now be closed as well. During our posted business hours, we will still be answering phones, responding to emails, as well as accepting packages & deliveries. Members who have a campsite can still get through the gate to access their trailer. But as we said before, please do not come if you are sick, been exposed to someone who is sick, or have recently returned from foreign travel. This order is for 14 days.Read More →

We have had several people inquire about whether we going to close. We are open and planning on staying open. Our wide open spaces are great if you want to get away from people. For those who have a trailer here, it might be the ideal place to isolate yourself for a bit. We have taken precautions to reduce the risk of spreading the infection: We have always cleaned the public areas regularly. But we have added the additional step of disinfecting “touch” areas (door knobs, locks, counters, handrails, etc…) three times per day. Sick team members are always encouraged to stay home but weRead More →

We have had a number of incidents last summer where people using their smartphones looked like they were taking pictures. The Bare Oaks policy on photography has always welcomed picture taking as long as everyone within range gave permission. This was easy to manage when photography was only done using specific picture-taking devices. But the ubiquity of phones with built-in cameras and the fact that people are always using them has led to a great deal of consternation. To solve this problem, members and visitors are now required to have a Bare Oaks camera sticker on the lens if they will be using their smartphoneRead More →

When our new gate system was installed in 2016, it was supposed to prevent people from letting others in. In other words, nobody supposed to be able to open the front gate unless they had previously left. This is important in order for us to maintain control of who is on the property – all guests and visitors must be registered with the office. However, we have discovered that a configuration error allowed some people to open the gate more than once. That issue has now been corrected. As such, please make sure that you use your keyband, keyfob, or keycard when you exit. IfRead More →
