The summer water system has been successfully disinfected and flushed so all campsites now have access to potable water. The toilets in the Beckett Circle comfort station are working. But the indoor showers are being renovated because we discovered that several of the walls were rotting. We thought that they would be open by now but some of the parts are coming from Europe so it is taking longer than expected to receive them. But the outdoor showers are working!  Of course, the temperature is a bit cool in the morning even with lots of nice hot water coming out. So if it is tooRead More →

Yes, Lake Beamor is safe for swimming! In addition to testing the well water every two weeks (which we must do by law) we also test the lake water occasionally. (which we are not required to do) We use SGS Canada Inc., an independent laboratory, to do all our water testing. Bacteria level is measured in colony-forming units (cfu) per 100 mL. The E.Coli limit at which a swimming ban/notice is posted varies by jurisdiction. In Ontario, it is 100 cfu.  In Alberta, B.C., & Quebec, it is 200 cfu.  In our latest test, the E.Coli in the lake at Bare Oaks was 024 which isRead More →

We’ve grown tremendously over the last 6 years and that has put a strain on our infrastructure. Last summer, we had over 2,200 visits by non-members. So as an example, a busy weekend now means hundreds of showers in the morning which has led water outages. So this year we’re doing a number of projects to increase our capacity. The image above is a crane installing a 16-ton concrete water cistern. It is one of two. When they are both activated in a few weeks, that will give us a total 45,400 litres of water holding capacity. We are also doing other projects related to variousRead More →

We’ve already had a few nights below freezing. That means that we need to shut down the seasonal water supply to prevent damage. That impacts all campsites in Beckett Circle and a few connections in Helios Circle. The shutdown is scheduled for this Friday (October 19th) We will try to keep the washrooms and showers in Beckett Circle open a bit longer. If you have a trailer, this is also the time to winterize it otherwise you may experience damage.  If you need someone to winterize your trailer, please contact the office for recommendations. We will also be closing the pool. But given the weatherRead More →

We have just received the latest test results on the quality of the lake water for swimming.  In addition to testing the drinking water every two weeks (which we must do by law) we also test the lake water occasionally. (which we are not required to do) We use SGS Canada Inc., an independent laboratory, to do all our water testing. Bacteria level is measured in colony-forming units (cfu) per 100 mL. We’ve held out as long as we could but frost is now a possibility at night.  So we will be shutting down the seasonal water (Beckett Circle) on Monday, October 31st. If you have a trailer, this is also the time to winterize it otherwise you may experience damage.  If you need someone to winterize your trailer, please contact the office for recommendations. But the clubhouse with its hot tub, saunas and fireplaces is open all year and members are most welcome to continue using the property and their trailers throughout the winter.Read More →

Our water is drinkable! Until now, we could not say that our water was safe for drinking. That’s despite the fact that it was filtered, chlorinated, and tested daily for adequate chlorine & weekly for lack of pathogens. Since the Walkerton tragedy of E. Coli contamination in May 2000 that lead to 7 deaths and thousand of illnesses, the regulations for drinking water have become incredibly rigorous in Ontario. (some say excessively so) But after several years of work and many thousands of dollars in expenses, we now meet the regulations! So rest assured that you can safely drink the water at Bare Oaks. Two wellsRead More →

Unfortunately, the cold weather is coming fast which means that we need to shut down the seasonal water supply. That’s everyone in Beckett Circle and a few connections in Helios Circle. The shutdown is scheduled for Monday October 25th. But this year, we will keep the water on in the washrooms and indoor showers in Beckett Circle. We’ll keep them open as long as we can; hopefully well into November. If you have a trailer at Bare Oaks, we strongly recommend that you get it winterized. Failure to do so could result in damages that would be expensive to repair. If you would like aRead More →

The road to Beckett Circle is open Things have dried up nicely this week so we have opened the roads. Please drive carefully. There are still soft spots. And the roads may have to be closed again if we get a bunch of rain. Hot Tub It is still running well and still hot with nobody using it. A Hydro One supervisor was here today. They are working on the stray voltage problem but everyone is stumped. We hope to have a Hydro One truck at the park on Monday to check voltages at the pole. In the meantime we all wait…  Feel free toRead More →
