Garlic Mustard is tasty in a salad but very destructive to Ontario’s native plants. It was brought over from Europe as a crop and has escaped into our environment where it is dominating and killing local species. We are having trouble controlling it at Bare Oaks. We are currently closed to visitors. However, it is essential to control this plant now because it is easy to identify while it is flowering and it should be removed before it goes to seed. So as a special exception, volunteers are sought to come to the park as essential workers under the following conditions: Singles or couples onlyRead More →

We are seeking either an experienced Wikipedia editor or a person with significant online experience who is willing to commit to learning the Wikipedia policies and procedures. The project is editing or creating naturist/nudist articles to improve and to add missing information in Wikipedia. Obviously this person needs to possess excellent English writing skills. They should also understand how to do research and the proper use of citations to document the source of their information. The person will not be paid or remunerated in any way in order to avoid Wikipedia’s Conflict Of Interest policies. In order to preserve that independence, we will not be givingRead More →

Yesterday, Corinne Masiero stripped nude to present the nominees for the best costume at France’s César film awards. The actress was protesting the lack of support for cinema during the pandemic. The audience reaction? Applause! Was she then rushed off the stage? No, the host simply asked her about the nominees. Ms. Masiero then calmly proceeded with her presentation without any attempt to cover up. The entire event was broadcast on television without any censorship. Today the news in France does not report any scandal. Why would there be? We’ve always seen France as a society that was quite tolerant of nudity. Unlike many otherRead More →

Now that we have a fibre optic internet feed, it has become clear that we must replace our WiFi network. The current system on the property has been in place for well over a decade and there have been a number of upgrades over the years. But there is no getting away from the fact that it is a limited system that was built in an ad hoc manner. With the addition of the high speed wireless connection 3 years ago and now the fibre connection, the demand for streaming entertainment and video conferencing has been steadily growing. We need a WiFi system that willRead More →

Bare Oaks now has a video library that makes available some of the movies and videos that are in our collection. It is important to note that many videos are not consistent with naturist values. Many of them include content that is misleading, inaccurate, inappropriately titillating, sexist, objectifying, and exploitative. We have included them in the library because they offer context about how naturists were and are portrayed by mainstream society – sometimes with the cooperation of naturists themselves! The video server also gives access to the live local television channels that we capture with the antenna on our tower. These are the sameRead More →

Bare Oaks is now connected to the internet via a fibre optic connection. The image is of a single ‘naked’ core of fibre optic cabling coming into our telecom closet. Yet through that wire, experiments with ‘flexible grid’ technology have shown that you get get speeds in excess of one Tbps through a single core. What does that mean? Currently, we generally measure internet speed in Mbps. Gbps are 1,000 times faster and Tbps are a further 1,000 times faster! Of course, we have not contracted for anywhere near that much speed. But it means that as demand grows, we can easily increase our service.Read More →

In case you haven’t heard yet, the volleyball tournament is on THIS WEEKEND! We have made a number of special adjustments to help keep everyone safe. For example, we will have a 1 meter ‘dead zone’ on either side of the net to keep players apart. That means that spiking and blocking will require some new skills! But ultimately, your safety depends on you; so keep your distance, wear a mask if you can’t, and wash your hands frequently. Government restrictions limit the number of players and spectators in the tournament to a maximum of 100 per day!  So arrive early to register!  Obviously, peopleRead More →
